If Gustav Klimt made a dress

I wore this to school today because Internet, sometimes, I feel like playing dress up. I don’t care if sometimes I look like I’m on my way to a job interview at the local library or like I’m hosting a tea party. I LOVE IT. In fact, I would be a staunch supporter of any piece of legislation that would make fancy dress mandatory. Everyone’s mood would improve and people would smile more often. I’m pretty sure I’d be smiling like a nun with a concussion if I grabbed some coffee with someone dressed like this fella.

Anyway, I bought this dress online from Anthro last summer because I fell in love with the brushstrokes print and the warm colors. Besides, it was on sale for $60. I refuse to pay anything full-price unless I have a feeling that it will sell out.

Click, click, click

In attempting to tidy up my living quarters over the weekend, I came across the most recent UO catalogue. Flipping through its pages of the same waif-like, bored looking girls with messy hair, my heart skipped a beat when I saw this:

I know what you’re thinking. Why would you want to buy a typewriter when you have a computer? And a printer? A COLOR printer? Well, la computadora is great and all, but how many hours have I wasted checking my email or refreshing ONTD, when I should have been writing? Too many.

BUT you can’t Google search on a typewriter, so with all that time to actually spend working, I could finally finish that script I started writing.

The price is the only thing holding me back ($140) but UO’s website increased my heartache with more pictures and the following detailed description:

“There’s nothing like the resounding “click” of an old-fashioned typewriter. Live out all of your next-great-writer fantasies with this classic travel machine from Olivetti, the 100 year-old Italian manufacturer favored by authors from Sylvia Plath to Stephen King.”

Woe is me.

A mad hatter affair

I have been an Etsy voyeur for a very long time, but I succumbed yesterday and bought this pretty whimsical piece from Who Made It.

I had been searching everywhere for an earring holder that would go along with the rest of my room’s decor. It’s made from new and vintage ceramic dishes and it reminds me of something the Mad Hatter would have on his table. Next to the jam.

I can’t wait to receive it!
